A First Look at Dark Knight @ Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great Adventure's Dark Knight coaster is open for business. After viewing the press video that Six Flags posted on YouTube, I have to say that my prediction was right! Dark Knight's not a groundbreaking, ultra thrill-ride, but it will be great for families and a wider age group than more intense coasters. Six Flags has refocused their attention on families because they bring in the most money. In that light, the Dark Knight coasters look to be a success.

For a Mack wild mouse, the ride looks like a lot of fun. The darkness and theming add a lot to a coaster that's a dime a dozen these days. Kudos to Six Flags for doing some real theming for a change. Also, I applaud them for their timing with the Dark Knight movie due out this summer. Great America's (Chicago, IL) is set to open on May 21st according to RCDB. More Dark Knight Coaster news...>>>

**UPDATE - 05-22** So I may be wrong on my prediction after all. While the video looks cool, Dark Knight's getting some pretty awful reviews on one of my older posts. Check out these reviews of Dark Knight.

Six Flags Releases Dark Knight Coaster Video
Six Flags is building an indoor coaster themed after the new Batman Dark Knight movie at Six Flags Great Adventure (NJ), Six Flags Great America (Chicago), and Six Flags New England (Mass.). As you can see from the video, these coasters could turn out to be pretty cool with the right dark ride-like elements. Even though there'll be just a pretty standard wild mouse inside those Gotham-themed buildings, this may turn out to be a pretty fun ride.

Batman Dark Knight Roller Coaster Blueprints
Details of the Dark Knight coasters opening at Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Great America, & Six Flags New England have been sparse. Thanks to RCDB we know that the DK coasters will be indoor versions of a wild mouse coaster similar to this one at a park in France, that's really all that's been released. Coaster-Net has posted photos of blueprints and diagrams for the new Batman Dark Knight roller coasters. They can be seen on a message board here.

Dark Knight Roller Coasters Swoop into Six Flags in 2008
Six Flags looks to mass produce (well mass produce in coaster terms) a new indoor roller coaster for three of its parks. In 2008, Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ), Six Flags New England (Springfield, MA), and Six Flags Great America (Chicago, IL) will get Mack Wild Mouse coasters enclosed in a Batman themed building.

The Name Game
Normally I can't stand Six Flags excessive recycling of names, (see my rant here) but at least these Dark Knight coasters will coincide with the Batman Begins sequel. Christian Bale will reprise his role as Batman as he battles the Joker played by Heath Ledger in the "Dark Knight". It's set to open July 2008. Six Flags had to rename the B&M Floorless Coaster also called Dark Knight at Six Flags New England to avoid confusion. So there's more strategy behind the naming of these new coasters than usual.

To get an idea of what Dark Knight will be like, check out this onride video of the Ricochet at Carowinds . It's the exact same Mack Wild Mouse model that will be used in the new ride. Just imagine it in the dark with lots of Gotham City-esque theming.
