Details are starting to surface about Busch Gardens Europe's (Williamsburg, VA) newest coaster in seven years. According to a trademark filed earlier this month, the new 200+ foot tall coaster could be named Griffon. According to Wikipedia, a Griffon is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. This fits with the park's tradition in naming their coasters after Old World myths and mythical creatures. Loch Ness Monster, Big Bad Wolf, Alpengeist, and Apollo's Chariot are all excellently-themed, world class coasters, and I'm excited to see what Busch will do with this long-awaited addition.

In late August, the park will make an official announcement that should shed more light on what type of coaster this will be, though the coaster fanatics are already speculating. Most likely, Griffon will be a B&M Dive Machine like SheiKra at it's sister park. Hopefully it will leave me more satisfied than SheiKra did. Stay tuned to Coaster-Net for all of the coming details.
